Barcelona Music Lab Connecta: Seven research projects will mark the future of the music industry from Catalonia

This Thursday, the first day of Barcelona Music Lab Connecta was held, a meeting point between the main research centers in Catalonia and the music industry with the aim of generating innovative projects among them.

The Barcelona Music Lab Foundation has promoted and created this day with the aim of being the link between research and industry so that representatives from both sectors meet, share projects and challenges and find synergies.

Within this framework, where more than 150 people have registered, we have known the projects of the five research centers that will mark the future of the music industry. Projects that are being carried out by pioneering research centers in Catalonia such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, CIDAI, i2CAT, Eurecat and the Ekho research group of the UB.

The projects presented investigate various aspects related to the music industry focusing on research in Artificial Intelligence and range from voice cloning, acoustic reconstruction with physical space measurement, holoportation (dimensional experience in concerts), speech transcription with whisper or generative AI that modifies the properties of synthetic voice.

In addition, the event presented the first two chairs of Music and Artificial Intelligence from all over Spain: the UAB-Cruïlla Chair in Artificial Intelligence in the field of Music and Arts and the UPF-BMAT Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Music. These two chairs have been endowed with 2M euros.

Barcelona Music Lab has conceived this day as an interactive day in which all the participants have been able to launch challenges to the representatives of the research centers and give their opinion on the projects presented.
