Barcelona Music Lab at MWC’s Talent Arena: Innovation, Talent, and Technology at the Service of Music

On March 3rd and 4th, Barcelona Music Lab took a bold step by joining the first edition of Talent Arena, a brand-new space within MWC Barcelona 2025 dedicated to innovation, technology, and the discovery of digital talent. This initiative, led by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, aims to connect professionals, businesses, and institutions to foster learning and the development of new opportunities in the digital space.

At BML, we saw this new format as an opportunity that aligns with our goals: exploring the role of technology in music, promoting talent, and helping establish Barcelona as a hub for innovation in musictech. We contributed with two key activities that sparked discussion about the challenges and opportunities AI brings to music creation.

Barcelona, a Musictech Innovation Hub

On Monday, March 3rd, at 1:30 PM, we took part in the Switch-on Talks with a conversation between Doris Obermair and David Poblador. In front of a packed audience, they discussed Barcelona’s potential to attract and develop talent in the musictech sector. Topics included the integration of creativity and technology, the rising trend of hyper-personalized music, and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence in this field.

Beyond Collapse: Creativity, AI, and an Immersive Experience

On Tuesday, March 4th, at 6:00 PM, the Talent Arena turned into a creative playground with the presentation of Beyond Collapse, an innovative proposal merging electronic music, generative AI, and unconventional live instruments. More than just a performance, the event featured two DJs and allowed the audience to engage hands-on through a parallel workshop, sparking reflection on technology’s role in the future of music.

This experience opened up a discussion on the collective responsibility of integrating AI into music: How far do we want this evolution to go? What role should artificial intelligence play in human creativity?

With this dual participation, Barcelona Music Lab reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the ongoing conversation about the future of the music industry. We will keep working to ensure Barcelona remains a key player in shaping new creative models. See you at Talent Arena 2026?
