Barcelona Music Lab brought live experimentation to the Talent Arena at MWC Barcelona with “Beyond Collapse”, a proposal that merges electronic music, live instruments, and generative artificial intelligence. The show was presented on March 4th at the Futurist Stage, within this new space driven by Mobile World Capital Barcelona to connect digital talent and innovation.
“Beyond Collapse” stood out from a conventional musical performance by offering an immersive and participative experience. Two DJs led a performance where AI intervened in real time to push the boundaries of sound creation. Meanwhile, the audience had the chance to interact with creative tools through a parallel workshop, diving deeper into the potential and challenges of technology applied to music.
The performance helped open a debate that the Barcelona Music Lab considers essential on the collective responsibility around integrating AI into music. The audience was invited to reflect on key questions such as “How far do we want to take this evolution?” and “What role should artificial intelligence play in human creativity?”
Beyond the visual and sonic impact, “Beyond Collapse” aimed to put at the center of the conversation the urgent need for critical reflection on the future of music tech. The initiative reaffirms the Barcelona Music Lab’s commitment to an innovation that not only explores new tools but also values ethics and critical thinking in shaping the transformation of the music industry.
With projects like this, the Barcelona Music Lab continues to work towards consolidating Barcelona as an international hub for innovation in music and technology.
